Sprint Car Insider – Driver Exclusive. DISCOVERY BAY, Calif. (September 17, 2018) -> Dylan Bloomfield found victory lane for the 12th time this season Saturday at Delta Speedway.
After struggling with motor issues the past few weeks Bloomfield didn’t let the gremlins affect his steamrolling momentum. He went straight back to his winning ways the moment the opportunity presented itself.
It all began in qualifying when Bloomfield went out and knocked down the sixth quickest lap of the 27 car field. From there he captured second in his heat and landed on the pole for the 25-lap Main after a favorable invert draw.
As the 25-lap feature rolled onto the track there was a singular focus in the eyes of Bloomfield.
“Our only expectation is to win,” said Shannon Bloomfield, Dylan’s mother. “We come out here to have fun, but of course winning is much more fun.”
Winning has been something Dylan has become accustomed to in 2018. Before the issues as of late when the 33 rolled out onto the track, no matter where he rolled off from, his competitors knew he was a force to be reckoned with. The only question remaining would be if he could seize that momentum right where he left off, or would his recent hiatus from victory lane have any effect on his confidence? Those questions would be answered quickly and convincingly.
Bloomfield led the field to green and picked up right where he left off. It would not come without a challenge, however. Recent Delta winner, and fast time qualifier, Guage Garcia, quickly moved into the runner-up position and applied the pressure. Lately, Garcia has been the one with the hot hand, picking up the win in his first appearance at Delta in 2018, and all around showing speed everywhere he goes. But Bloomfield proved to be unfazed by the recent success of Garcia. While Garcia appeared to quicker early in the going Bloomfield maintained his composure and never succumbed to the pressure.
By the end of the race, it was apparent the number 33 had his confidence back and the Hyper Chassis rolling. Despite numerous restart attempts following cautions, Bloomfield marched to a comfortable victory. His wire to wire win checked the 12th box of the season in his win column and an astounding 8th victory on the 1/7th mile of Delta alone.
“Delta is one of the toughest tracks to win at, so anytime you get a win here, it’s special,” said Bloomfield. “My confidence is at a very high level knowing that I have a great car and my crew is always going to set it up perfectly.”
Currently holding down the third position in the Delta Speedway points, according to Bloomfield he has just winning and bigger goals in mind. With one major championship under his belt this season, he intends to keep working hard, maintain a positive attitude, and put his best foot forward toward his main focus of capturing the coveted Golden Driller at the Tulsa Shootout this January.
Dylan Bloomfield would cordially like extend his sincerest thanks to – Hyper Racing, Hinkle Performance, Hamblin Motorsports, Air One, Extreme Motorsports, Delta Contracting, Von Euw Trucking, Napa Auto Parts of Brentwood and Livermore, 33 Motorsports, Mom, Dad, Grandpa, Willy, and Sue.
