Sprint Car Insider – Driver Exclusive. HANFORD, Ca (October 5, 2018) – Gauge Garcia did everything he could to win the Lemoore Raceway track Championship in 2018.

However, in the end, he came up just the slightest bit short. No matter the final outcome it was undoubtedly a showcasing season for Garcia.

The end of the 2018 season saw Garcia come to life and rise to the occasion. After picking up wins at Plaza and Lemoore early in the season it seemed after taking a summer break Garcia came back stronger than ever.

Perhaps his stories comeback begins with this first appearance of the year at Delta Speedway. This race would serve as a foreshadowing of what was to come the rest of the way. Garcia battled with the same rival he’d go down to the wire with at Lemoore on that night. In just his first attempt all season at Delta Speedway Gauge Garcia put on the show of The weekend and grabbing the win with a stunning last lap move.

He’s carried that confidence with him ever since. He’s caught the eyes of his competitors and asserted himself as a favorite everywhere he goes. His late-season run brought him to the Budweiser Grand Prix at Lemoore Raceway just two points out of the lead of the Restricted class championship. He would go on to do everything in his control to win.

Garcia lit the board in qualifying and earned max points for quick time. He followed that with third in his heat but his focus was on the main event. Starting from the 4th spot Garcia would display his maturity during his performance.

He stood behind the leaders most of the race being patient and waiting for his opportunity to arise. As soon as a shadow of an opportunity presented itself in the closing stages he pounced. He passed the leader and dropped him.

Gauge Garcia got into the lead and never looked back on his way to his second victory at Lemoore and 5th of the season.

If not for throwaway races Guage Garcia would undoubtedly be your 2018 Restricted class champion at Lemoore by a mere two points. Throwaways ended up being the difference. With three victories, and throwing away a total of 65 points, Caeden Steele edged out Gauge Garcia by just 19 markers. Garcia ends up throwing out a total of 53 points and that was the difference.

Garcias season-ending performance was statement-making. He did everything in his power to steal the crown and nearly got it done.

Big races are on the horizon for Garcia. The end of the regular season means it’s time to focus on the big ones. Ahead for Garcia is the California Cup at Lemoore Raceway, the Turkey Bowl at Delta Speedway, and the Tulsa Shootout. While the first two pay well and hold some clout, the Prestige of the Shootout is unparalleled m.

Drivers from Central California have a decorated history inside of the Tulsa Expo Center. With the confidence attained during the latter half of the season, Guage Garcia has proven capable of turning some heads.

As the time draws nearer, Garcia stares down an opportunity to write his own page in the history books.
