Challengers appeared but none prevailed in the end. Ringo and Smith battle down to the wire at Dixon trophy Dash.

Sprint Car Insider – Driver Exclusive. FRESNO, Ca. (October 5, 2018) – Tyler Smith stands to write another page in the history books this weekend as he will officially be crowned the first King of California to accomplish the feat in all four tracks.

What’s more is he has the opportunity to break his own records as well.

Not only is the King of California his fourth major championship of the year after Speedweek, Plaza, and Lemoore, but number five, should he win, would be his first career championship at Delta. At this stage in his career, first-time accomplishments are few and far between, but this will be his first ever Delta Title.

“I have never won a title at Delta,” said Smith. “We just gotta seal the deal now. I have never had the opportunity to run the full points schedule until now and I really want to win a Delta title.”

On top of five titles, first four-track King of Cal, first Delta Championship, at 22 wins Smith is also closing in on his own season-high win record of 25 in 2015. Although he won’t break the streak this weekend he stands to move to within striking distance as the season comes to a conclusion.

Tyler Smith will be in action at Dixon Speedway Friday night for Round 15 of the King of California series where is already unofficially the champion over 129 points ahead. Saturday night is the Delta Speedway track Championship finale where he sits 80 points ahead of second.
