Sprint Car Insider – Driver Exclusive. FRESNO, Ca (October 5, 2018) – Raio Salmon drives into this weekend with an outside chance to walk away with two major Super 600 titles.

Although it’s considered an outside chance for King of California, she still poses a significant threat. As of right now, she sits just 48 markers behind Joey Ancona including throwaways. Anything can happen in racing, if Ancona has an issue at Rd 15 she could find herself in a winner take all scenario Saturday.

As for Saturday at Delta Speedway, the track title is on the line and she is very much in contention. After leading the points for much of the year she finally relented the top spot to Nikko Panella after having a mechanical issue during the Dual at Delta. Her remarkable consistency coupled with three victories, at Delta alone, put her in prime position to win her first super 600 title ever. But when your title rival is consistently in the top 3 as well, it makes the smallest mistakes critical.

Her title rival almost had his the last time we were on the track st Delta. While running well he spun and offered Raio her best opportunity to make up ground but it wasn’t her night. In hindsight, though she did actually gain two points on the leader and that could end up being the difference.

Every point matters.

Salmon admittedly let the pressures of a title looming get to her midway through the season. She says after she let that go and turned her focus back to winning, what got her in the position in the first place, things became fun again. After a spectacular run at the Mark Hagopian Memorial Raio Salmon is set to get back in the car and expand her career best season and win total.

“If we go out there and win that’s all I can do,” said Salmon. “I just want to win and the chips will fall as they may.”

They may. It’s an outside chance, but it’s a chance Salmon earns some titles this weekend. She’ll have to make up 48 points in KofC and just 12 at Delta. Salmon says she’s more than ready for the task at hand.
