Sprint Car Insider – Driver Exclusive. DISCOVERY BAY, Ca. (October 10, 2018) – Dylan Bloomfield may have been out of championship contention coming into the final weekend of King of California competition but he still had the chance to earn bragging rights.

Leading up to the final weekend of the King of California Series Dylan Bloomfield boasted the most wins overall in Restricted Class competition across all tracks and series. His 11 victories overall and at least one on each track amounted to five more than the driver poised to become King of California.

Although he was mathematically eliminated from championship contention a win at Round 15 would give him the opportunity to become the winningest Restricted driver of the series. His three KofC wins left him with the opportunity to bring his total to five before weeks end. Tulsa Shootout Restricted champion, Corey Day, led the points while boasting four wins. Between the two of them, the race for highest win total would become the fight of the final weekend.

Small issues kept Bloomfield out of the Championship hunt but looking back at the box scores, he was more than competitive on every occasion. Bloomfield had to sit an entire race out, in addition to incidents beyond his control. Those incidents served as the nail in his King of California coffin.

Luckily for Bloomfield, he got the majority of those occurrences out of the way early coming away with an invaluable lesson about consistency. He scrutinized what exactly it was that put him out of contention in the KofC series. He analyzed so closely what it was that he already reaped the benefits of it. It didn’t take long. Dylan Bloomfield showed up for California Speedweek in June not only as the most consistent Car of the week, but he was consistently dominant.

They say Consistency wins championships in racing. But Ryan Villopoto, a 4x AMA Supercross Champion, says consistently winning will beat consistency every single time. Since the midway point in the year, Bloomfield has lived up to that motto. He didn’t even give anyone else a chance to win Speedweek this year. He won the first two races and followed those up with back to back runner-ups.

Bloomfields Speedweek performance came as a surprise to everyone in the pits except those in his circle. His dominance of Speedweek elevated his stature into the conversations of the Shootout winners like Day, and Clay Cup Winners like Thornhill. The way he not only won but dominated the week with the likes of those two drivers included, put Bloomfield himself on a pedestal representing the best in the nation.

Making a short story long, the misfortune that cost him a King of California title ended up teaching him one of the most pivotal lessons in racing – establish your stature, you will end up where you believe you should be on a regular basis.

Bloomfield was unable to take the round 15 victory but Bloomfield would return ready to lead the way the very next night. Round 16 of the King of California series moved back to Delta Speedway where Bloomfield’s win total stood no chance of being broken. The final round would serve merely as a platform for Bloomfield prove he’s the man to beat at the 1/7th-mile bullring.

Bloomfield had one exclamation point left in him indeed. The 33 went out and put a hurt on the toughest Restricted class in the nation one more time. Through his dominance of Delta Speedway, the name Bloomfield will be recognized nationally when he rolls into the Tulsa Expo Center ready to contest for a Golden Driller. He earned the first major title of his career with California Speedweek and since the minute he lifted that championship bear his singular focus has turned to doing the same with a Golden Driller in January.
