Garcia Lands Pair of Podiums at Plaza

Sprint Car Insider- Driver Exclusive. LEMOORE, Ca. (November 20, 2018) – Gauge Garcia finished up his 2018 California Micro Sprint campaign with a pair of podium finishes last weekend at Keller Auto Raceway for Turkey Night at Plaza.

As the season winds down Garcia was able to muster up two top three finishes for the last time in the car before he straps in at the 34th Annual Tulsa Shootout in January. He arrived at Plaza Park to wheel the Legacy Specialties, Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino, #21 Pace Chassis for the final time in 2018 looking to go out on top.

The track was hooked up and heavy Friday night making passes tough and gaps hard to shrink. Garcia’s 5th place qualifying effort landed him in solid position to ride throughout the night but with track conditions the way they were it was all about track position.

He came through the heat with third and went into the main ready to battle as Caeden Steele would lead the field to green on Garcia’s inside. The two paced the field to the stripe but that was the last they would see of each other. Garcia only had enough in him for second on this night. After it was all said and done Garcia was ready to pack it in and give it a go on night two.

Night two started off just the way he was lookin for. He went quick time on the field with an 11.948 lap time. Things were looking good early on night two.

Then came the heat race where Garcia brought the car home third. After the heat the luck of the draw did not turn in his favor. On this night of possessing quick time the inversion draw came up six. Sixth is the exact spot night one winner, Caeden Steele had qualified and that would put him on the pole again. Garcia would have his work cut out for him.

The main event went green and it turned out to be more of the same from night one out front. Although Garcia this time had to charge through the field. He was able to make a valiant charge to third but that was where it stopped. Gauge Garcia brought home third place in the final Restricted main event of 2018 in the Golden State.

After a strong season Garcia still hold his head high as the Tulsa Shootout now lies directly ahead of him. The next time Garcia straps in and goes out to race it will be at the 34th Annual Tulsa Shootout January 2-5, 2019 at the Tulsa Expo Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
