The Iceman Rides Again – Class Act Winner

Sprint Car Insider- Driver Exclusives. EASTON, Ca. (November 20, 2018) – Caeden Steele came out and swept yet another two night show to end his sophomore Restricted 600 season in the state of California.

Steele added wins ten and eleven to his total after taking home both Friday and Saturday nights victories in the Restricted 600 class at Turkey Night at Plaza. Keller Auto Raceway was the sight of Steele’s first triumph of the season back in April during the King of California series and now it also represents his 11th.

It was a strong season for Steele without a doubt but something about the two-night show exhibitions at the end of the year has caught Steele’s ambition. He has won them all to end the year. First it was Lemoore’s Cal Cup, then it was Delta’s Turkey Bowl, and now he’s done it at Turkey Night at Plaza.

Still searching for a way to get to the Shootout, the PMP driver has been on a hot streak of glory to round out his season and would surely roll into the Tulsa Expo as a preeminent favorite to win. Steele already has one Driller to his credit, but nothing would compare to winning one in a 600 division. Steele attributes his late season surge to liking the big race, high pressure, atmosphere, and that alone makes him a threat to win in January, should they find a way out to the sooner state.

Turkey Night at Plaza started with Steele qualifying 6th quick on a very fast track. He turned in an 11.257 to capture sixth quick. He then went and finished 4th in his heat and landed a favorable inversion. Starting up front Steele took the green and never looked back. He went wire to wire en route to race win number 10 on the season.

Saturday night was more of the same from the Iceman. The ice water just runs through his veins as nothing gets in his head. Again, not the fastest in qualifying he was able to overcome the difference. A heat win built some confidence as he would get set to tackle another 25-lap main. Steele once again found his way to the front and checked out. His Saturday night win accounts for win number 11 of 2018.

“To end my Restricted career by winning all the big end of the year races means a lot,” said Steele on the podium. “Doesn’t look like we’re going to Tulsa but I’m ready to move to the Super 600 class next year and be competitive.”

There it was strait from the mouth of the Iceman himself. It doesn’t look like they’re going to Tulsa unless they can find a way to get their equipment over there. Steele also had an answer that stuck out when asked why he does so well in these type of races.

“I just like the big races, to me the pressure is fun,” said Steele.

The Iceman needs a way to get his Tarlton and Sons, Hutchinson Equipment, PMP Chassis, 11 time winner to the biggest high pressure race of them all. Let’s help get the Iceman to the Shootout!

Beyond the world of racing Caeden Steele also proved to be a gentleman with a heart full of good intentions. After his race was long over he came back up to the announcer to ask if he could address the crowd. The announcer gave him the platform when the young man, to everyone’s surprise, completely unprompted, decided he would give all of his winnings, to help support victims of the “Camp Fire,” that has affected so many in and out of the racing community.

That was a pure class move. The Iceman may have ice water running through his veins on the track but off it, he’s pure gentleman.

Let’s help get this young man to the Tulsa Expo Center to get after another Driller!
