Syra Sees Another Shot
Sprint Car Insider- Driver Exclusive. TULSA, Okla. (December 31, 2018) – The third times a charm they always say. Katey Syra has returned to the River Spirit Expo Center to see to it that is the case here at the 34th Annual Tulsa Shootout.
Coming in off the heels of one of the most decorated seasons in her short career, Katey Syra has unfinished business in Tulsa. Both of the previous two attempts at a Driller have gone nearly flawless for Katey Syra, until the main event. The last two years in a row Syra has driven herself to front row starting positions in the Restricted A-Main only to see things unravel during the weeks most important event.
However the way she has gotten herself to that point in each of the last two Shootout’s has created some allure in and of itself. Syra has posted some of her most masterful performances right here inside this building. In 2016 she came from last to first in her qualifier and that landed her on the top row. Last year she held stout and put herself in the same position.
She has adapted well to the conditions presented beneath the lights of the Expo Center built a reputation around it. To merely earn a front row starting spot is an accomplishment on its own, to do it twice, is a legacy in the making.
There is only one more box for Katey Syra to check, – sealing the deal.
Katey Syra sees an opportunity ahead as she comes to the 34th Annual Tulsa Shootout boasting her best season yet. This year Syra showed serious speed everywhere she went. She was able to clean house and take home a coveted state of California Trophy with a triumphant King of California win, as well as become champion of Lemoore Raceways Inaugural Jet Bowl Classic.
After the season she has had in addition to the performance she has become synonymous with in Tulsa, Syra is brimming with confidence. With another year of seat time under her belt she’s had the opportunity to reflect on the small elements that have eluded her to this point. Not to mention she’s unexplainably hungry for the ultimate prize. Two years in a row now the carrot was dangled in front of her and now she’s back for a third go of it.
They say the third time is a charm. Can Katey Syra make that sentiment ring true come Saturday night?
