Cole Macedo pilots Van Dyke Motorsports 5H to first career Outlaw A-main start in Stockton
By Gary Thomas
Stockton, CA – March 19, 2019…Making his third and fourth career starts with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series this past weekend, Lemoore’s Cole Macedo proceeded to make his first ever feature start with the “Greatest Show on Dirt” at the Stockton Dirt Track Saturday finale.
Macedo had made his initial World of Outlaws starts recently at the Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway but was back at more familiar confines starting off at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico Friday.
After qualifying 17th in Flight-A of time trials he brought home a seventh-place finish in the heat race, followed by a fourth place run in the C-main. Macedo’s older brother Carson, who drives for Kyle Larson Racing, would go on to claim victory during the feature.
On Saturday the Van Dyke Motorsports/ Lucas Oil Products/ Rafter V Farms No. 5H machine made its way south to the Stockton Dirt Track to finish off the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series weekend. With only one flight of qualifying needed Macedo cut a respectable lap to earn the 21st fastest time in the stout 35-car field.
Macedo then battled hard in his heat to cross the checkered flag in fifth, officially earning his ever A-main birth with the World of Outlaws. During the feature he was on the move early while the rough and tumble surface presented its fair share of challenges to competitors. The 18-year-old was just on the cusp of the top-10 when a tear-off malfunction caused him to lose spots and eventually pull off the track to call it a night.
Van Dyke Motorsports will return to action this weekend weather permitting.
Van Dyke Motorsports would like to thank Lucas Oil Products, NAAKE Suspension and JRI West, T&T Trucking, Rafter V Farms, Hansen Machine Works, DMI, AL Driveline, Moyle Engines and Rod End Supply for their support this season.
