Sprint Car Insider: HANFORD, Calif. (March 26, 2019) – > Cash Lovenburg drove his way to a night one victory of the Budweiser Outlaw Nationals at Keller Auto Raceway Friday night and brother Ty earned himself a pair of top-5 finishes on the weekend.
Just five days removed from a devastating loss at Delta Speedway, Cash Lovenburg was able to seal the deal, and cross the checkered flag first at Keller Auto Raceway on Friday Night.
“It was a devastating loss last weekend,” said Brandon Lovenburg. “He did the same thing last year. He saw that light and thought it was a caution. But that kind of thing happens, we’re happy to rebound strong and the get the points chase at Plaza started on the right foot.”
The first points race of the season for Cash and Ty Lovenburg went green Friday night at The Budweiser Outlaw Nationals at Keller Auto Raceway Plaza Park. A brand new format for the Jr. Sprint class went very well for both Lovenburg brothers as they took to single car qualifying with power. Cash came away with QuickTime on night one and Ty qualified third quick.
That would set them up nicely for the rest of the evening. Cash took home the heat race victory landing him a prime starting position for the main. Ty earned a solid finish showcasing his improvement from last season and likeliness to step into contender status as the year goes on.
As the boys rode into the main event it was time for Cash to put the troubles of the previous week behind him. He took to the lead and never looked back. This time he was able to close it out and earn the coveted victory. Night one of the Budweiser Outlaw Nationals put the first W of the season in the win column for Cash Lovenburg.
Ty also drove to a strong top 10 main event performance. At the end of 20 laps Ty brought the 01t home 6th and stayed on the lead lap. It was a confidence boosting night for both boys.
Night two came around with Cash in perfect position to become the Outlaw Nationals Champion.
He again drove the 21 to QuickTime and looked to be ready to drive for the title. Ty qualified sixth quick on night two.
The heat race is where everything changed. A violent crash set Cash off his rocker. He and Jett Barnes got together ending in Cash going end over end. However he would not give up.
Cash made the call for the main event and was very competitive early. He followed behind the leader stalking him the entire race. By the end of 20 laps Cash got by the car in front of him and took home second position and second overall on the weekend. This was a good start to the points season at Keller Auto Raceway for Cash Lovenburg.
Ty Lovenburg drove to a career performance claiming 5th on night two. The finish wasn’t what made it so, it was how he did it. He was fast in the 01t, and kept the leaders in sight the entire main event. Ty Lovenburg was ultra competitive, driving in premier form the entire night.
The Budweiser Outlaw Nationals have come and gone with Lovenburg Racing finding themselves in prime form to take on the rest of the season. Up next for the two young men is the opener at Lemoore Raceway. Catch Cash and Ty Lovenburg in action next at the 2nd Annual Jet Bowl Classic Friday and Saturday April 5-6 at Lemoore Raceway.
