Sprint Car Insider- LEMOORE, Calif. (April 5, 2019) -> Ashton Torgerson rolls into Lemoore Raceway for the Jet Bowl Classic with many reasons to be confident.
Ashton Torgerson will be contesting in the second annual Jet Bowl Classic at Lemoore Raceway, in Lemoore California, this weekend in two divisions. Once again Ashton will be taking on the Stock 600 class and the Hamblin Motorsports Restricted 600 class. After the Budweiser Outlaw Nationals Ashton has some heads turning with the potential he’s shown.
Not only did Torgerson leave Plaza Park steamrolling with momentum that he picked up all week long, but he got a big win just last weekend.
Racing a Dwarf Car for the first time in his career last weekend at Mojave Valley Speedway in Arizona, Ashton took home a the win on Saturday Night. “The only time he drove the car before last weekend was into the trailer,” said Danny Torgerson.
Ashton also showcased his adaptability last weekend. Night one didn’t go nearly as well as night two. In fact, Ashton finished in the final position on the track. But what a difference 24 hours makes.
On night number two he came out and won the dash which put him on the pole for the main. They watered the track right before the mains and this did not play into his favor. In the beginning he fell all the way back to the sixth position from the lead. But then he started picking off the drivers ahead of him one by one. Eventually he found himself in the runner up position with the racing coming into the closing stages.
After a late caution Ashton got to the back of the leader and passed him on the white flag lap. This was his second win of 2019 adding to his Kart win a few weeks back. Now it’s time for Ashton Torgerson to jump back behind the wheel of his #02 D1 Micro Sprint at Lemoore Raceway for just the second time in his career.
The 2019 Jet Bowl Classic is a two night show with separate events each night. Night one will field a complete show from qualifying to heat races through the main event. Saturday will be the same with the addition of a dash for Cash sponsored by Warmerdam Walnut Company. Saturday will also run a full points paying main event in which the two nights will be accumulated to determine an overall champion.
Ashton Torgerson will be competing in the TEN-J Chassis Super Stock 609 division as well as the Hamblin Motorsports Restricted 600 division at Lemoore Raceway.
Austin Torgerson is still healing from an injury sustained in a Mini Monster Truck accident. He will be back behind the wheel in the coming weeks.
