Sprint Car Insider – HANFORD, Calif. (April 16, 2018) – The Kings of Thunder Winged 360 Sprint Car Series is back in action this weekend with a guest star joining the tied points battle at round three from Keller Auto Speedway.
After two races, and split wins, two Hanford natives sit atop the points standings going into round three. Hanford’s Dj Netto nabbed round one at Keller back in February. He became the first King of Thunder main event winner in history. Round-two, over at Thunderbowl Raceway, just 19 miles away from Keller, in Tulare, went to fellow Hanford native, and two-time, reigning Cotton Classic Champion, Mitchell Faccinto. With two rounds in the books the two find themselves tied with 96 points a piece.
However, this weekend a new challenger has emerged ready to play the role of spoiler and potentially get in between the two fighting for the title.
Lemoore’s Carson Macedo has confirmed he will be in attendance aboard a Tarlton and Sons #21 entry as the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series has the Easter weekend off. Coming in on the heels of a successful start to the 2019 WoO campaign, with a win to his credit at the Mini Gold Cup at Silver Dollar Speedway, in Chico, Calif. last month, Macedo comes in as a surefire contender to wind up in victory lane.
This presents a challenge to local drivers fighting for their share of the $10,000 Championship purse. Is it worth going for broke, to try and beat the alumni turned Outlaw? Or does a solid points Night, if presented, draw more allure? Chances are if a win is on the line the thought of points will go out the window local bragging rights are sure to be on the line. These drivers are very familiar with each other.
As the series approaches Round three things are still very close in points all the way down the list with the top ten separated by just 44 points. Scott Parker currently holds down the third position with 72 points, just 24 out of the lead. Fourth in the standings currently belongs to Hollywood Danny Faria Jr at 70, Zane Blanchard fifth with 68. Just outside the top 5 is Tucker Worth who will be returning to the seat after a nasty crash at the last round. He currently runs tied with Jace Vanderweerd with 56, an even 40 down from the leader. Rounding out the top ten sits Cole Macedo, Mathew Moles, and Grant Duinkerken all with 52 points.
As the series kicks into full swing the title picture is becoming much clearer. But it’s not over. With only two of fourteen rounds down, there is still plenty of time for a contender to emerge, or for a driver to go on a hot streak. It’s all on the line as the best local California Sprint Car drivers contest for over $10,000 in championship incentives and prizes.
The next edition kicks off with Round three Saturday Night at Keller Auto Speedway. It’s sure to be a weekend to remember with an outlaw joining the cast of local standouts vying for Central Valley supremacy and fighting to be crowned the inaugural King of Thunder.
