Kyle Offill moves to 5th in SCCT standings and 2nd at Silver Dollar Speedway heading into July 4th weekend
By Gary Thomas
Petaluma, CA – July 3, 2019…After three nights of racing this past week Kyle Offill has moved to a season-high fifth in points with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour and runner up in the standings at Silver Dollar Speedway, with two more events on deck beginning with the annual 4th of July spectacular in Chico on Thursday.
Offill and Team KO Racing began the triple-header outing last weekend at Silver Dollar Speedway with another round of weekly competition, where things got off to a solid start by timing-in fourth quick and then running third in the evenings dash. The feature didn’t go quite as planned as he got upside down off the third and fourth corners to cut the feature short.
The team got everything buttoned back together for Saturday’s Sprint Car Challenge Tour presented by Elk Grove Ford and Abreu Vineyards event at Placerville Speedway.
The 18-year-old opened the event by qualifying fourth in his group, before picking up a victory in his heat race aboard the Country Builders Construction/ Ochoco West/ Reliable Lumber No. 2K Sprinter. A fifth place effort in the dash lined him up on the inside of row three for the 35-lapper where he ran among the top-10 for much of the race before crossing the stripe in 14th.
Sunday’s Sprint Car Challenge Tour event at the Petaluma Speedway capped off the weekend and saw Offill time-in fifth among his heat race group. A fifth place finish in his heat race placed him in row nine for the 35-lap contest. A wide racing on the 3/8 mile clay oval surface created some exciting action in the main event and Offill was able to move forward to pick up an 11th place finish at the checkered flag.
Offill will now get set for the annual Independence Day event at the Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico tomorrow. Going into the 4th of July special he ranks second in the weekly standings as he guns for his first career Winged 360 Sprint Car victory at the track.
After that he will then gear up for another round of competition with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour presented by Elk Grove Ford and Abreu Vineyards on Saturday at the Stockton Dirt Track. Offill sits fifth in the standings with just four races remaining in the SCCT season and earned a top-five during his most recent Stockton start.
