Bordenave Earns Tenth Top 10 of the Season

Prodigy Race Promotions on Sprint Car Insider. Driver Exclusive – MANTECA, Calif. (July 30, 2019) – > Sage Bordenave, the kid that’s powered by bacon, powered his way to the tenth top 10 of 2019 in last weekends Dixon/Delta Doubleheader.

After two consecutive top 5 finishes the previous two weeks at both Dixon and Delta, Sage Bordenave nearly made it three for three.

Friday night Bordenave made the trip over to Dixon Speedway for Race 9 of the track championship series in the Sunny Valley Smoked Meats number 77. The night kicked off with qualifying where he laid down an 11.493 lap time good for 11th quick. Going out early on Friday night proved to be a disadvantage as the track got faster as the session went along.

However he didn’t let it deter him as he put in a 3rd place performance in his heat race. Up next the Restricted 600 class took to the track for their 20-lap, Race 9 Main Event. With a host of traveling drivers on hand the competition was stout Friday night and the kid powered by bacon held his own. He stayed in contention for a top 5 the entire 20 laps before taking the checkered flag in 6th. Friday nights performance stood for his tenth top 10 of 2019.

Less than 24 hours later, on Saturday night, the team traveled to Stockton for Delta Speedway’s eighth race of the season.

Bordenave found brief struggles in qualifying bringing home the 17th quickest lap but he would alleviate them as the night went along. He started his heat race in the sixth position and found his way forward. He was able to make the pass he needed to advance directly into the nights main event without going to the B-Main.

Bordenave came to the green flag starting 14th in Delta’s 25-lap Restricted 600, Race 8 Main Event. On a track that proved difficult to pass on, Bordenave still progressed forward. At the conclusion of 25 laps he brought the Sunny Valley 77 home 13th. It wasn’t his best result

Of the season on paper, but his tenacity showed its colors and he rolled the car back into the trailer the way it came out and went home safe.

After 14 main events this year Bordenave currently holds 10 top 10 finishes, five top 5’s, and two heat race victories. He’s yet to park the 77 in victory lane like he was able to do last year but his success in the past give him the confidence that he needs to get it done. If he keeps at it the wins will come soon.

His next shot at victory comes this Saturday August 3rd, back at the San Joaquin County fairgrounds and Delta Speedway for Race 9. The 77 looks to show the field how being powered by bacon will get you into victory lane.

Race 15 of the 2019 season kicks off Saturday night.

Sage Bordenave would like to cordially thank all of his sponsors including Sunnyvalley Smoked Meats and Inspire Academy of Barbering and Cosmetology of Stockton for their continued support, and belief in the Sunny Valley Smoked Meats number 77 program.
