Heat Wins and Hard Charges Highlight Speed Sharp’s Weekend

Prodigy Race Promotions on Sprint Car Insider – Driver Exclusive. GRASS VALLEY, Calif. (July 30, 2019) – Izaak Sharp took home two heat race victories and a top ten in his double- header weekend at Dixon and Delta Speedway’s.

Following a sixth place finish just six days beforehand Izaak Sharp returned to Dixon Speedway for some Friday night action at round nine. Dixon Speedway is becoming the sight of top level performances for Sharp and he showed the again last weekend.

The weekend began with qualifying where he wheeled the 24 to an 11.389 lap time for seventh quick. His time was just .344 off of quick time in an ultra competitive field on hand for a Friday night under the lights at Dixon.

Up next, in his heat race, Speed Sharp got out front and held on for the victory. Not only did he pick up the win but he set the fastest lap of the race and held off the eventual nights winner, and California Speedweek Champion, in doing so. His heat race win put him in the evenings trophy dash where he came away with sixth.

On to the 20-lap main event it was for Izaak Sharp as he came to the green from the sixth starting spot. After being sent to the back early Sharp was able to race his way back into contention. After getting all the way back up he ended up going end over end right at the finish and earning the 10th place finish.

Onto Delta it was for another night of racing the very next day.

Sharp Racing was able to get the number 24 D1 back together and on the track Saturday night for Round 8 at Delta. In qualifying Izaak dropped a 10.390 that earned him 11th quick, just .229 off of the sessions fastest lap.

In the heat race he took the green from the pole and stayed out front the entire ten laps on his way to a heat race sweep of the weekend.

His direct transfer to the main event put him in the 9th starting spot as the field came to green. As the main got underway the 24 was ultra fast but luck was not on his side. Sharp got tangled with another driver and wound up finishing 15th even though he turned the 6th fastest lap time of the main event overall.

“It was not the result we were looking for,” said John Sharp. “We were fast but we’ll move on and get the car ready to try again.”

Sharp will have the opportunity to try again as soon as this weekend. Delta Speedway is in action Saturday night for Round 9 of the track championship season.

Izaak Sharp enters this weekends race at Dixon with 22 features under his belt with a win, four top- fives, and 11 top-tens. Not to mention, one his season- best performances was his Speedweek podium at Delta, can he get back on the box or back in victory lane on Saturday?

One thing is for certain – Izaak “Speed” Sharp will be back behind the wheel of the 24 this Saturday, August 3rd, at Delta Speedway to try and get it done.
