Trevino Back on the Box at Delta
Prodigy Race Promotions on Sprint Car Insider. Driver Exclusive- MADERA, Calif. (July 30, 2019) – > Logan Trevino scored another podium finish at Delta Speedway in the Restricted 600 class Saturday night.
After relenting the points lead following the last round at Delta before going to Clay Cup, Logan gained a single point, bringing the margin down to three. It a close battle Saturday night, which is what resulted in such a minimal gain, however, every point matters, and that single point could be the difference in the end.
Saturday night kicked off with qualifying for Trevino who turned in a 10.038 lap time around the ultra fast Delta Speedway in his Prosperi/Trevino number 7t. His time stood for 2nd on the charts by the slim difference of just .078 seconds. Trevino’s qualifying effort was fast, the only problem was the one driver with a faster lap time is the driver he’s battling with in the championship.
With his second fastest qualifying time he started heat race number two from the fourth position. Ten laps around Delta Speedway goes by in a matter of 01:49, or a minute and fourty-nine seconds, meaning there isn’t much time, Trevino stayed in the position he started an advanced to the main event.
When the 25-lap Delta Speedway Race 8 main event took to the track Trevino was on the outside of row number one, the second starting position. Just to his inside was his main title combatant, who entered the night four markers ahead in the standings, the showdown was on. Logan Trevino was able to put himself ahead of the 34 and marginalize the difference.
However on Saturday night neither driver had enough to beat the driver who charged from the fifth position. At the end of 25 laps Trevino crossed the line in the second position. His finish was good enough to gain a single point in the standings, and stood for his 13th podium of the year.
In 22 races in 2019 Logan Trevino currently has 21 top 10 finishes, 19 top 5’s, 13 podiums, and three victories. He’s on a mission to win the Delta Speedway and Keller Auto Raceway Restricted class track championships. He currently sits three points out of the point lead at Delta with five rounds remaining.
Trevino returns to action this weekend, Saturday August 3rd, back at Delta Speedway, for Round 9 of the track championship season.
