Prodigy Race Promotions on Sprint Car Insider – Driver Exclusive. GRASS VALLEY, Calif. (August 13, 2019) – Izaak Sharp brought home a podium finish Saturday night at Lemoore Raceway after a fierce charge from the 12th starting position.
Sharp’s podium at Lemoore earned him his sixth top five of the season. In addition to six top fives he has 12 top tens and one win. According to the numbers there is something about Lemoore Raceway that fits the driving style of Sharp. Not only is it the sight of his first career win, a nine position swing moving forward says his confidence is high on the famed 1/5th mile.
However the results from Lemoore are the second half of a stint in the south for the Sharp family. The race weekend started Friday night at Plaza Park. On paper, Friday seemed to have gotten off to a better start for Sharp, he qualified 4th quick in the Restricted 600 class. He was then able to move forward in his heat by finishing second after starting third, and he went into the main event starting from the 4th position.
He started the main event fourth with some momentum on his side but at the end of 25 laps he brought the car home in 8th for his 11th top ten of the season. The ultra competitive class is always tough and top spot in the south is often exchanged. Saturday night would prove to be much better for Sharp.
Returning to the site of success always bodes well for the most superstitious of race car drivers. Lemoore Raceway will always be the sight of Sharps first win. With that carries some allure that cannot be matched.
He qualified 12th quick but dramatically turned the night around from there. He started on the pole in his heat race and lead that one wire to wire. With a strait up inversion he was tabbed to start in 12th, exactly where he qualified. But it became clear that they had found something throughout the night others did not. Sharp charged through the field with precision and confidence. At the end of 25 laps he crossed he checkered flag third earning his sixth top 5 of the year at the sight of his biggest success.
More than the finish – the charge through the field leaves Sharp with a lot to be confident about moving forward. He’ll be in action again this weekend back closer to home at Delta Speedway in Stockton. Delta is also a track that he greatly enjoys and has some masterful results at.
This Saturday night August 17, Delta Speedway goes green with race 10. Izaak Sharp will be in action looking to grab his first victory at the San Joaquin County fairgrounds and add another track to his win column. After this weekends performance he’ll go to Delta with a ton of momentum.
