Bordenave’s Forward Progress

Prodigy Race Promotions on Sprint Car Insider. Driver Exclusive- MANTECA, Calif. (August 20, 2019) – > Sage Bordenave moved through the field each time he took to the track Saturday night in the Restricted 600 class at Delta Speedway.

The results on paper don’t do any justice to the performance of the Sunnyvalley Smoked Meats 77 from last weekend at the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds in Stockton. It all began with qualifying from Race 10 at Delta Speedway when Sage set up his night of having to come through the field. He had issues in qualifying placing him 26th in the field and behind the 8-ball from the get-go. His issues in qualifying however would not stop him from having a good night.

In his heat race he put in the night saving performance. With enough cars in the field to have a B-Main, the kid that’s powered by bacon would have none of that. After taking the green from the 9th position he was able to charge five positions through the field in just ten laps. Ten laps at Delta Speedway under green flag conditions is no longer than two minutes at the most. He charged five spots and earned the most pivotal part of his entire evening – a direct transfer to the main event.

As the field came to the green flag for the 25-lap Restricted 600 feature Bordenave started 15th. He was able to make moves once again. While the main only saw the 77 advance two positions up to 13th, his forward progress through the heat race was enough to hang his hat on. That kind of performance is what breeds confidence. Confidence is everything in the sport of racing.

Up next Bordenave will take that confidence to a track he’s endured a lot of success on – Dixon Speedway. Saturday night Dixon Speedway goes green with race 11. The 77 missed the last race at Dixon but he’s ready to get back to the track thats been so good to him. This year alone he has multiple heat wins at Dixon and strong qualifying performances. This could be the week the 77 goes back to the top step of the podium.
