Lovenburg Sweeps Weekend

Prodigy Race Promotions on Sprint Car Insider- Driver Exclusive. VISALIA, Calif. (August 26, 2019) – > Cash Lovenburg enjoyed a weekend sweep by taking the top spot in the main events at Plaza Park on Friday and at Lemoore Raceway on Saturday.

As the championships at both tracks are now on the home stretch Lovenburg is making a push at both titles. At Plaza Park he entered Friday already atop the standings. After Friday’s win he now holds an 86 point advantage. However at Lemoore Raceway things are much closer. He’s been in the runner up spot in points all year. After winning Saturday, he’s shrunk the gap down to 13 points, with only three races remaining.

In 22 main events this season Cash Lovenburg has stood on the podium at 19 of them. Of his 19 trips to the podium seven of them have been to the top step. Cash currently has seven wins, and 22 top fives, and top tens. In addition, Cash has also been the fastest driver on the track according to lap times in 35 out of 70 qualifications, heat races, and main events. That accounts for 50% of his attempts on track.

Friday night at Keller Auto Raceway started out on top for Cash taking another quick time in qualifying. Ty Lovenburg brought the number 01t home with 5th quick in the session.

In heat race action Cash maintained his night of perfection by taking the win. Ty finished in 6th. From that point it was on to the first 20-lap Jr Sprint main event of the weekend.

Cash started in the top spot and did not flinch. He showed the way the entire way. It was a flag to flag victory for Cash Lovenburg crossing the line 1.5 seconds ahead of second and 3.5 seconds ahead of third. Friday’s win at Plaza was his sixth win of the season and fourth win at Plaza Park. Ty Lovenburg held onto 6th earning his 17th top ten of the season.

Following Friday nights action Cash increased his points lead at Plaza Park moving up to an 86 point advantage with three rounds remaining. Ty holds on to his top 5 position in points sitting 5th just 16 points out of the fourth.

Saturday night the Lovenburg’s travelled over to Lemoore Raceway for Race 11 of their track championship season. Lately Cash has been inching closer and closer to the points lead and Ty closer and closer to the top 5.

Saturday’s Qualifying session didn’t kick off a night sweep for Cash but he did come home 5th with Ty timing in 8th. The heat race saw Cash start 5th and finish 4th with Ty finishing in 7th. From that point it was on to the final main event of the weekend – the 20-lap Jr Sprint finale at Lemoore Raceway.

Cash started from the pole and fell back into the car-bird seat early. He ran in the runner up position for nearly three-quarters of the race. He sat behind the leader patiently waiting for an opportunity to arise. With five laps to go the opportunity presented itself. Cash Lovenburg jumped through the window that was opened in front of him and into the lead.

Cash proceeded to show the way for the remaining four and a half laps to earn his 7th win of the season and second of the year at Lemoore. Ty Lovenburg held court inside of the top ten bringing the 01t home with 7th to represent his 18th top ten of the season.

Saturday’s win had much bigger implications than just the second win of the year at Lemoore. Not only did he manage to cross the finish line with two flat tires, but now he’s shrunk the margin to just 13 points with three races remaining. Ty now only sits 14 points out of the top 5 as well following Saturday.

As the season is coming down to the wire Cash and Ty Lovenburg are stepping up to the plate. In the last few races both boys have offered up some of their best performances, at the most pivotal times.

Up next for Lovenburg Racing the team will travel north to take on Delta Speedway. This Saturday and Sunday night Cash and Ty Lovenburg will contest in the Delta Labor Day tradition “Duel at Delta,” spelled as Duel indicating a fight for the win, but meaning dual because it’s a two-night affair. Saturday night will be race 11 on the famed 1/7th mile oval on the San Joaquin County fairgrounds and race 12 on Sunday.

Both boys will be fighting for their first Delta Speedway Wins.
