Trevino Bounces Back – BIG TIME

Prodigy Race Promotions on Sprint Car Insider. Driver Exclusive- MADERA, Calif. (September 3, 2019) – > There’s an old adage in racing that says it’s not how much you win that defines you as a champion; it’s how you respond to adversity.

Logan Trevino answered the question of how bad he wants to be a champion on Saturday night.

Following his lone DNF of the season last time out at Delta the first night of the Labor Day tradition at Delta Speedway was pivotal. Trevino came into night one of the Dual at Delta holding on to a very narrow seven point lead in the Restricted 600 standings. His position and his possible outlook became vulnerable. The direction both of those took depended on his response.

He did exactly what a champion does. Win in the most critical times.

Saturday night began with third quick in qualifying and a runner up bid in the heat race. The way things added up, this put him in the 6th starting position entering the 25-lap race 11 showdown. His work was cut out for him looking at the names on the lineup, but it was “do or be done,” time for the 7t.

He did it. He drove the Prosperi/Trevino 7t D1 through the field and made a statement. He showed the competition that was not bowing out easily. Logan Trevino made his bid for a title with that charge. With his fifth win of the season and now third at Delta, his status elevated from contender to favorite.

However he had to answer the call once again on Sunday night. The second night of the Duel at Delta, race 12 for in the championship, presented Trevino with a whole new night of racing action, with the same amount of points on the line. Again, he’d have to answer the call.

The night started off on the right foot but end quite as well. Yet, he still made a valuable statement. He kicked off night two with second quick in qualifying. The heat race gave him some trouble and he finished ninth.

He went into the Sunday night feature starting in ninth. Mid pack is no where a championship

Contender wants to be, especially with so much on the line. But he got through the feature clean. He gained two spots and finished seventh. Now, with two rounds to go Logan holds a 13 point advantage.

The next two races at Delta are going to be crucial. However Logan has shown this year that consistent performances are his speciality. In just 23 starts he has 22 top tens, 20 top fives, 14 podiums, and now five wins. It’s going down to the wire at Delta.

But first he’ll race a little closer to home at a pair of tracks he also has wins on this year. Friday night he’ll gear up for race nine at Plaza Park Raceway, where he stood atop the podium back in April. Then on Saturday night it’s back to Lemoore Raceway for Race 11. The last time he raced at Lemoore he picked up the Restricted victory. He’ll try to put on a repeat performance this weekend.
