Lovenburg‘s Endure Both Ends of the Spectrum

Prodigy Race Promotions on Sprint Car Insider- Driver Exclusive. VISALIA, Calif. (September 10, 2019) – > It was a weekend of simultaneous heroism and heartbreak for the Lovenburg Racing team.

While Ty charged to another top five Saturday night at Lemoore, Cash suffered a mechanical issue negating all the ground he had recently made up in the Jr Sprint championship battle.

“It was a heartbreak forsure,” Brandon Lovenburg said. “Cash was fast all night but unable to finish, were still in the title fight but definitely have our work cut out for us now.”

The Lemoore title fight may have just gotten a bit tougher for Lovenburg but the Plaza Park crown is almost within arms reach. Following Round 9 on Friday night Cash has opened up the gap to 91 points with two races to go.

Friday night started off with Cash qualifying third quickest and Ty coming in with the fifth fastest time. In the heat race Cash followed up his qualifying time with another third as Ty finished fifth. In the 20-lap feature Cash battled hard but came up just short of victory. His second place finish accounts for his 21st podium of the year, and 23rd top five in 25 total main events. Friday’s runner up bid was a welcomed result in the bigger title picture.

Ty drove his way to 7th earning his 21st top ten of the year. However the next night at Lemoore Ty would be the one to shine in the spotlight.

Prior to Saturday’s event at Lemoore Cash had closed the gap all the way down to 13 points. He had wedged himself firmly into the title picture and held tons of momentum. Ty came into Lemoore with six top fives on the year and all of them in hard-fought charges to the front. Race 11 at Lemoore was no different.

According to Brandon Lovenburg he missed the setups on the car before qualifying but the boys were still fast. Cash qualified second, just .005 (five one-thousandths) of a second off quick time, and Ty qualified sixth. In the heat race Cash came away with second but the heat races were the first glimmer of what was to come with Ty.

Ty jumped out front in his heat race and showed the way. He out paced the field until stripping a drive belt and having to pull into the infield and officially finish fourth. On to the 20-lap main event with Cash starting second and Ty coming to the green from sixth.

As the race got going Cash was able to settle in and eye his move. As he was going to make the pass things came unraveled. His throttle cable broke and ended his night. The points margin he had shrunk down to 12 slipped away as he sat in the infield. With two races to go the gap now sits at 33.

Ty started sixth and got into fourth right away. After Cash dropped out of the race Ty held down the third position for a good portion of the race. He held steady with a potential podium. As he approached lapped traffic he made us first move flawlessly but made a costly mistake going to pass the second lapped driver. He relented the third position but still brought the 01t home fourth to earn one of his season best finishes and eighth top five of 2019.

Lovenburg Racing is proud of the boys performance overall and knows nothing is over in racing until the final checkered flag waves. There will be no giving up out of anyone on the team.

The attention of the team has now turned to the Third Annual Mark Hagopian Memorial. In two weeks, on Friday September 20, and Saturday September 21, Keller Auto Raceway rolls out the red carpet for its crown jewel event once again. The Jr Sprint class will race for $1,000 and the exclusive title of #MHM19 Champion. But more than the money and the prestige, night one and two are the final two points races at Keller Auto Raceway this season.

It’s all on the line come race time at “the Hagopian.”
