Trevino Puts in Champion Worthy Performance at Penultimate Round

Prodigy Race Promotions on Sprint Car Insider. Driver Exclusive- MADERA, Calif. (September 16, 2019) – > Logan Trevino did everything he needed to do at the Penultimate round of Delta Speedway’s Championship to insure he comes into the finale controlling his own destiny.

Trevino will come into the Delta finale on October 6 now holding a 21 point lead in the Restricted Class Championship.

Should he go the distance it will be his first Micro Sprint Championship. He’s put himself in this position all year long realistically. For much of the season he’s stood atop the points. Three of his five wins came at Delta. He’s been the hallmark of consistency. In 24 races this year he has only finished outside of the top ten once. Unfortunately however, that one time was at Delta. But he’s overcome every obstacle thrown at him.

In addition to 23 top tens, he has a mind boggling 21 top fives, and 15 podiums. It’s no wonder he sits on the cusp of being crowned champion. He seems to be getting better as the season comes down to the wire as well. On night one of the Dual at Delta he picked up the most pivotal win of his season. He got the job done just when he needed to. He did it just when the field was gaining confidence, just when he appeared vulnerable, but he nipped that in the bud real fast. Statements like that establish a mental hierarchy amongst title contenders.

This last weekend he did it again. He wasn’t too aggressive or crazy, didn’t take too many chances or get overconfident, but he didn’t clam up and become over cautious either. He went out and ran the pace he was comfortable with pushing and brought home the best points night presented to him.

It all started when he laid down the gauntlet in qualifying.

If there were any questions or concern about the 7t showing nerves he answered them all in time trials. Trevino lit the watch and went strait to the top of the board with quick time earning maximum qualifying points. Then he made it through his heat smoothly with 4th to advance to the pole position for Saturday’s penultimate round Restricted main event.

Sandwiched by contenders and those gunning for his position in points Trevino held court. He filed into second and kept his sights set on battling the track in front of him instead of worrying about those behind him. As things played out behind him Trevino battled forward. In the end he brought the 7t home with a, runner-up finish. His penultimate feature finish is just the latest example of title worthy runs from Trevino. Now only one round separates Logan Trevino from his first Micro Sprint title on October 6th.

But first there’s a big one to win. This weekend Trevino will be in action at Keller Auto Raceway for the the Third Running of the Mark Hagopian Memorial. This event is gaining clout nationwide and is said to have drivers from all over the nation on hand competing for the crown. Logan has a win to his credit at Plaza this season and hopes that he can check off the box next to its biggest race of the season. A #MHM19 victory would be the perfect recipe for calming any nerves associated Championship pressure, if Trevino has nerves, because as he looks lately, no amount of pressure can rattle his cage.
