Courtnier Keeps Momentum Rolling
Prodigy Race Promotions on Sprint Car Insider – Driver Exclusive. ELK GROVE, Calif. (September 26, 2019) – > Devon Courtnier picked up his sixth win on his third different track this season during night one of the Mark Hagopian Memorial at Keller Auto Raceway.
Fresh off a dominant performance at Delta Speedway the previous week the 34 kept the ball
rolling as he took to the track at Plaza Park. Courtnier has been a force to be reckoned with all season. This time he showed it to the shoes from the south.
Friday night started off with third quick in qualifying, typically his strong suit. He made a pattern of finishing one spot higher on night one. He got the runner up spot in his heat and took the fight to the feature.
He lined up for the Friday night feature from the third position. As the main went green he put himself into the catbird seat and proceeded to pressure the leader. The 14 car had been tough to beat at Plaza coming into the MHM but Courtnier was primed for the challenge. He patiently drove behind her until the perfect time to strike. Once the 34 found the front it was all over from there.
Courtnier crossed the checkered after 25 laps to win night one of the Mark Hagopian Memorial. It was his second win in a row dating back to Delta, his sixth win of 2019, and the third different track he’s won on.
Saturday night he was back to get after it again in the MHM19 finale. He got Saturday started with fifth quick in qualifying followed by third in his heat. Courtnier ended up bringing home 10th in the Mark Hagopian Memorial Restricted finale that unofficially beat out the entire NASCAR season for entire race duration. Saturday’s Restricted main was not for the faint of heart.
It was Friday night that will stand as the focal point of Devon Courtnier’s 2019 Mark Hagopian Memorial experience. He brought his northern momentum to the south and showed his strength. From this point forward it’s all about racking up wins for the 34. He’s got his sights set on running the table at Delta and hopefully taking home the Turkey Bowl title to end his season.
Be on the lookout for plenty more from the 34.
