Sharp Shows Vast Improvements Over MHM Weekend

Prodigy Race Promotions on Sprint Car Insider – Driver Exclusive. GRASS VALLEY, Calif. (September 27, 2019) – Izaak Sharp picked up the pace every time he hit the track last weekend during the Mark Hagopian Memorial at Keller Auto Raceway.

Of the four tracks Sharp has been contesting this season Plaza has proven to be the most technical but the MHM saw a vast improvement. Friday night he timed in 22nd in part of a stout 30 car field. In the heat race fast track conditions made it tough to pass but he managed to get around two cars into sixth. The heat race offered valuable lessons heading into the B main.

He started the B Main from the pole and never looked back. Breathing a sigh of relief Sharp advanced into the A-Main with the 16th starting position. Friday’s preliminarily feature didn’t end up quite the way Speed would have hoped but he came back Saturday ready to fight.

Night two of the Mark Hagopian Memorial was a brand new day. Like Sharp has been able to do so well this season he put Night one behind him and charged hard during the second go-around.

Saturday nights qualifying was much better. He brought the 24 home 12th quick and in the top half of the very stout field. In the heat race he held on to fourth and earned a direct ticket to the main event.

Not only was he going directly to the feature, he would start from the pole position.

The green flag dropped and he fought hard at the front. He kept the leaders honest most of the race and ran every challenger hard. In the end Izaak Sharp came home with his 13th top ten of the season finishing in eighth place. For being one of the biggest races of the season at the toughest track on the calendar, a solid top ten beacons a welcomed confidence booster. From his first time out on the track to the final main event Sharp made up an insurmountable amount of ground on his own pace. In just his second season in a Micro Sprint vast improvements such as last weekend are a promising sight.

The season is coming down to the wire but it’s not over yet. This weekend Sharp Racing is taking the weekend off to celebrate the drivers birthday. That’s right Izaak Speed Sharp turns the big 1-2 tomorrow September 28. Don’t forget to wish your favorite #PRParmy driver a happy birthday.

Sharp will return to action next weekend at Delta Speedway’s track championship finale. Results at Delta have been some of his best this season. With that in mind the team hopes to be standing in victory lane come next Saturday night.

Speed Sharp has more winning in him in 2019 and he’s off to make it happen.
