Sheriff Scores Runner-Up At MHM Looking for One More at Lemoore

Prodigy Race Promotions on Sprint Car Insider. Driver Exclusive- HANFORD, Calif. (September 27, 2019) – > Dalton the Sheriff Parreira is looking to finish one spot higher Saturday night at Lemoore Raceway than he did at last weekends Mark Hagopian Memorial.

While a second place finish at one of the years biggest events is nothing to take lightly, the Sheriff clearly expects more of himself. Saturday night he’ll have another opportunity to climb one spot higher on the leaderboard as the 51 takes on Lemoore Raceway’s 13th race of the season. With two wins to his credit, the Sheriff currently occupies fourth place in the Restricted 600 standings at Lemoore with two rounds remaining.

The reigning Jr Sprint Champion has exceeded expectations over and above in his rookie restricted campaign. With 33 features under his belt he has two wins, seven second place finishes, 13 podiums, 15 top fives, and 26 top tens. From the drop of the first green flag this season he asserted himself into the same position he came out of in Jr Sprints – a title contender. He wasted no time learning the pace of the Restricted field and went strait to contending for wins. The only indications of his rookie status have come by way of small mistakes and gaps in consistency. Other than that his 2019 performance, highlighted by his sweep of the Tachi Palace Nationals, has been far above average.

However now that the season is winding down he’s no satisfied. He wants more wins. Coming off a season with 20+ victories, the young man almost owned stock in Lemoore Raceway’s victory lane. Albeit his contention in the restricted class has surpassed even the greatest of outside expectations, the Sheriff knows right where he wants to park the car after 25 laps of racing on Saturday’s. With the drive in his eyes don’t be the least bit surprised to see him in familiar territory this weekend.

As for the Mark Hagopian Memorial two top tens were both nearly top fives. His eleventh place qualifying effort on the first night set him up for a heat race victory but landed him the ninth place starting position for the main. He was able to charge three spots through the field up to sixth. However on a fast surface Friday night, one was left to wonder what a better starting position could have done.

Night two he came out and landed one spot higher in qualifying with tenth. In a rare circumstance at Plaza that tenth was the perfect 10 as the invert draw came up 1-0. He made quick work of his heat and went to the main starting third. Saturday’s Restricted main was not for the faint of heart. The Sheriff could have had tea with the queen, played an entire fortnite tournament, and put together his future super 600 car, in the time it took to finish that one. Despite the time delays he worked hard on the leader but came up just shy. His runner up bid rounded out his rookie season at Plaza with him finishing sixth overall in strait-up points, before throw outs.

Now he’s turned his attention to Lemoore. Currently sitting fourth in points just 101 out before throw-outs none of it matters to him. It’s all about wins. Tomorrow night the 51 will give getting to victory lane another go.
