Lovenburg Dominates Cal Cup

Prodigy Race Promotions on Sprint Car Insider- Driver Exclusive. VISALIA, Calif. (November 12, 2019) – > Cash Lovenburg not only executed a perfect Cal Cup Jr Sprint Finale winning the title, but he also enjoyed a promising Restricted debut.

It was a brilliant weekend from the beginning on all fronts for Lovenburg. He started off his weekend getting his feet wet in the Garcia family Restricted number 21 on Thursday turning in brilliant laps. He then decided to hop in the Jr Sprint at the last minute and pull off double duty over the weekend.

Friday night kicked off with Cash timing in 5th quick in his first ever attempt in Restricted qualifying. He was faster than a lot of the top drivers. His Jr Sprint qualifying efforts didn’t follow that trend, timing in fifth quick, but he would put that behind him quickly.

One of the major highlights of the weekend was his restricted heat race victory. He started second, got into the lead on lap 1, and proceeded to the checkers where he would finish 1st with quick time in the heat. It was, again, his first career attempt. In the Jr Sprint class he finished second in his heat and started the main third. He went on to finish in the same position.

The Restricted main even didn’t pan out in line with the rest of the night. Coming into the main 2nd in points and an 8 car invert he would start 7th and end with a 16th place DNF after hitting the wall and losing a right rear tire with 2 to go. He showed the aptitude to run with the fast guys and the potential to be threat quickly.

As the California Cup moved to the finale on Saturday Cash found himself locked in the Jr Sprint main and ready to give the Restricted division another go from the beginning.

Qualifying ended up with 13th quick. He then finished 7th in the heat race and went into the main event starting from the 18th position. In the 30 lap feature Cash charged six spots through the field all the way up to 12th. Despite dealing with others troubles, he managed to keep moving forward. It was a brilliant debut In the 600 for Lovenburg.

However, in the Jr Sprint main on Saturday, the legend of Cash and Cup titles continued.

He started fourth. He found his way to the front. The rest is history.

Cash Lovenburg put on another display of dominance in Saturday nights Jr Sprint finale. There was no one in his league. He got out front and checked out, lapping up into the top five and finishing a full four seconds ahead of the runner up finisher. It was all Cash from flag to flag.

At the end of 25 laps Cash Lovenburg earned the California Cup crown and Championship belt to compliment his Clay Cup crown from back in July. Saturday’s win also propelled him into the double digits being his 10th win of the season. With one race remaining in 2019 Cash boasts a staggering 32 podiums in 36 features, with 10 wins, 34 top fives and a perfect 36 out of 36 top tens.

Cash will be back behind the wheel of the the Restricted 600 for one last time this season Friday night at Turkey Night at Keller Auto Raceway. After that the sole focus turns to the teams maiden voyage to Tulsa, Oklahoma for the granddaddy of them all – The Tulsa Shootout.
