Logan Trevino Makes Shootout Debut Tonight

Prodigy Race Promotions on Sprint Car Insider. Driver Exclusive- TULSA, Okla. (January 1, 2020) – > Logan Trevino is about to embark upon the biggest race of his career here at the 35th Annual Lucas Oil Tulsa Shootout.

It’s the granddaddy of them all.

The Tulsa Shootout is the biggest micro sprint in the world. Nothing beats the prestige of a Golden driller. It’s the trophy you earn if you are lucky enough to make it all the way to Saturday and win your main event. It’s the hardest race to win. The format weeds the players from pretenders. The pressure is comparable to that of any big league race. Winning the shootout takes, luck, skill, and a whole lot more luck.

This year for instance the Restricted class, the class Trevino is running, has 112 entries in part of a 1400 driver field record amount of entries. Today those 112 restricted drivers will be split into 14 heat races amongst them. There is no qualifying out here. To be considered lucky, you need a bad pill draw. The worse your starting position is for the heat race, the better your chance is to advance to a qualifier and have a chance to advance directly to a main.

It’s all about passing points in Tulsa.

For Logan Trevino he’ll start middle of the pack during his first race of the week. Restricted heat race number 11 is when Trevino rolls out onto the shootout surface for race conditions for the first time in his career. It’s just his third race behind the wheel of the TEN-J Chassis. He couldn’t be happier with the handling and performance of the machine. He’s been lucky enough to be pitted under the factory banner this week.

However, out of 112 entries, and 14 different heats, that luck factor, that luck factor hasn’t played out in the brands favor on this end. Three of the four marquee top restricted drivers will all line up in heat race number 11. They will be fighting amongst each other in one of the most pivotal races of the week.

Trevino has no control over that though. All he can do is make sure he goes out there, manages his nerves, and moves forward. Racing is a one man band once the helmets get put on. Trevino has to fight for himself.

The 2019 Delta Speedway track champion has as good of a chance at wrapping up a driller as anyone in the building as it stands right now. Over the past two seasons a driver from this region has either won the Restricted title, or come very close. Logan Trevino looks to keep that tradition in tact and be the next central California standout to bring home a driller.

In just a few hours we will all know how his shootout is shaping up. Heat race action is next. Be sure to stay here on Sprint Car insider for the recap following this evenings action or the #Results posts on Prodigy Race Promotions for instantaneous results.
