Prodigy Race Promotions on Sprint Car Insider. Driver Exclusive- FRENCH CAMP, Calif. (May 26, 2020) – > Sage Bordenave continued his impressive start to the season with a top five and a quick time highlighting his performance from Dixon Speedway over the weekend.
From the very beginning of the season the kid that’s powered by bacon has been wheeling the Sunny Valley Smoked Meats 77 like a madman. He continued his impressive start to the season last weekend at the Memorial Day Doubleheader at Dixon Speedway. Both nights saw the young man from French California in the mix. After topping the charts in qualifying on Saturday, Bordenave was able to parlay that speed into a top five performance.
After the covid-19 hiatus Sage Bordenave climbed behind the wheel for just the third time this season here in early May. Ever since his breakout run at the Tulsa Shootout, Bordenave brought that momentum home with him. Two weeks ago at Dixon, in the first race of the season, Bordenave showed major promise. When he returned to the track last weekend he turned heads once again.
It all started when he tipped the beams in his favor and qualified fastest in the Super 600 field. The SunnyValley Smoked Meats 77 went to the top of the board and stayed there. From that point he took home fifth in the heat race and advanced to the Dash. After an eighth place finish in the dash he would start the 25-lap feature from outside the fourth row.
After 25 laps Bordenave charged up to the fourth position laying claim to his first top five of the season. More so than his finish the speed Bordenave has displayed is having an obvious effect on his confidence as he runs around the track with aggression asserting himself into the top positions on track. It’s a whole new Sage Bordenave In 2020.
Saturday night was just the beginning however. On Sunday Sage was back and full of speed once again. He qualified fourth on Sunday. This time he went into the heat race and pulled off a third place finish advancing himself to the dash for the second consecutive night. Bordenave picked up sixth in the dash and started from there in the main.
Bordenave may have been even more competitive in Sunday’s feature than even his top five on Saturday. He was right in the mix and battling for the top Spot before a late race issue cost him another top five position and landed him in the infield with a DNF. Although the results didn’t materialize on Sunday, Bordenave has established himself as a real contender in the super 600 class here in 2020.
The kid that’s powered by bacon, pilot of the SunnyValley Smoked Meats 77, from French Camp, California will be on the top step of the podium celebrating a win sooner than later. His next attempt comes in just two weeks when Dixon Speedway opens the gates once again for Race 5 on June 6th.
Until then, Don’t miss a second of the action by following all the results and details on Sage Bordenave and his charge toward his first win of 2020 on Prodigy Race Promotions on Instagram and Facebook and with the official Driver Exclusive recaps right here on Sprint Car Insider. #PRParmy
