Sharp Showing Strong Start in 2020

Prodigy Race Promotions on Sprint Car Insider – Driver Exclusive. GRASS VALLEY, Calif. (May 27, 2020) – Izaak Sharp continued his roll of remarkable consistency and blistering speed last weekend with a pair of top fives highlighting his doubleheader weekend at Dixon.

Through just three races Sharp has filled out every category on the stat sheet aside from winning. He kicked the season off with a podium third place run that night. At last weekends Dixon doubleheader he again came away with a pair of top five finishes, his first heat race victory and a fast time performance in qualifying. So far in 2020 Izaak Sharp is proving to be a force to be reckoned with as he’s already padding down the stat sheet.

The Memorial Day double header at Dixon kicked off Saturday night which, for many, was just their second time back in the race car all season due to the Covid-19 pandemic. With the favorable results of the first race in his back pocket Izaak Sharp maintained the trend on night number one.

He came Out of the gate swinging with 7th quick in qualifying. From there he went on to grab his first checkered flag of 2020 with the heat race victory. That momentum set him up nicely heading into the dash where he would come away with sixth. His sixth place finish in the dash earned him the sixth place, or outside third row, starting position for the night- one, 20-lap, restricted feature. The action was fierce for all 20 laps before finally bringing the 24 home with a solid fourth place finish. Fourth was good enough to lay claim to his second consecutive top five finish to start the year.

After night one of the Dixon Doubleheader Sharp was reeling with momentum and the weekend wasn’t even over yet.

Coming into night two Speed Sharp had already made the statement to the restricted class that the speed in “Speed Sharp” was back. After qualifying he left no doubts in anyone’s mind.

As the tenth driver to take to the track Izaak Sharp laid down a sizzling 11.568 lap time that catapulted him to the top of the charts where it eventually stayed. At qualifying end Sharps number 24 stood alone atop the board. Izaak Sharp bested the field

In qualifying competition and now it was time to parlay that into victory.

The almighty invert coupled with track conditions not yet conducive to passing contributed to Sharp Falling back to fifth in his heat. Luckily for the fast time driver he still advanced to the dash. Sharp was able to get through the dash clean with another 5th place finish. For the final main event of the weekend Izaak Sharp took the green from p5.

Sunday’s main event was another rough and tumble affair. Drivers battled tooth and nose for every position on the track, not giving an inch. Sharp found himself in the thick of the battle, right in the hunt. He put on a valiant charge coming away with fourth at the conclusion of 20 laps. Although he didn’t get the victory he had hoped for, his consistent results paint a very bright picture. Through only three races Izaak Sharp has three strait top five finishes. Of those top fives one of them stands as a podium. Sharp also boasts a heat race win and a quick time performance, both coming last weekend.

Numbers never lie. The numbers for Sharp say that he’s been a stout contender so far this season. If he keeps this up he will inevitably find himself in the winners circle. Sharp Racing has another weekend off ahead but I’m just two weeks Dixon Speedway opens the gates and drops the green flag once again on June 6th.

Izaak Sharp will be in action and searching to lay claim to that coveted first victory of the season and second career overall micro sprint win. This season has been strong for Sharp so far, can he get the win in two weeks?
