Canales Racing sets sights on the Forni Classic at Placerville Speedway Saturday
By Gary Thomas
Placerville, CA – July 21, 2020…After competing in Watsonville this past weekend the Canales Racing team will now gear up to take on the 15th annual “Mark Forni Classic” at the Placerville Speedway this Saturday night.
Thus far in the early season Canales Racing has performed extremely well on the high-banked red clay quarter mile and will hope to do the same at this Saturday’s Forni Classic. Driver Colby Copeland started off the Placerville Speedway season by earning three consecutive runner up finishes, before picking up a victory on Independence Day. Both Copeland and Trent Canales will be in action this Saturday at the prestigious event.
“We’ve had a great start to the season in Placerville and certainly hope to carry that momentum into the Forni on Saturday,” commented Copeland. “Our crew chief Trevor Canales has gotten me comfortable there and has given us some excellent cars to drive. There should be a lot of competitors this weekend, so it won’t be easy, but I definitely have a lot of confidence going back there. It would mean a lot if I could add my name to the winners list of the Forni.”

In addition to running the Forni, Copeland will take part in Sunday’s event at the Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico as well, which can also be seen via Flo Racing.
Canales Racing ventured down to the Ocean Speedway in Watsonville with both cars this past weekend, where Trent Canales made the show each night and brought home finishes of 15th and 16th respectively. Copeland competed in Saturday’s portion of the “Howard Kaeding Classic” and timed in 19th overall, before finishing third in his heat. He then drove from 17th to 12th in the feature event.
